New features OneDrive for Business

Microsoft has announced some cool features in OneDrive for Business, like:

  • New look (easier to work with files)
  • Can switch from folder view to view of Thumbnails (with rich preview)


  • New set of commands on the top when you select documents and folders
  • Easier to work with multiple files (more like windows, drag+Select+drag’n Drop)
  • Keyboard shortcuts (Select all, deselect, tab navigation)
  • New file detail view where you can preview the document, see who has access, view information about the file
  • New Sharing options (simpler, easier to work with, can get a link to share with external, can set an expiration for the link, send a link just for people inside the company)

Office 365 first release customer have access to these new cool features in OneDrive for Business, regular customer will see the features appearing in the next few month. Tenant administrator will be able to choose when you are ready to switch. Over time, this will become the default, but you will be able to revert back to the classic page. The classic page will be removed in 2016.
