If your Netbios domain name is different then your FQDN domain name, and you configured a profile service SA and the importation is not showing your Netbios domain name.  You must have missed something during the configuration.  The order seems to be important.  I used this order in the last two environments I configured and it worked.

You need to grant the Replicating Directory Changes permission on the domain to the account that will be used by the UPS synchronisation connection.

You need to grant replicating directory changes on the Configuration Naming Context for the domain.

You need to grant  the log on locally right to the Farm Service account on the SharePoint Server running the User Profile Synchronization Service.

Temporarely Add your farm service account to the local administrator group of your SharePoint Server.  Then reboot your server.  You should remove the account from the local admin group once you have completed the UPS configuration.

  1. Delete the existing User Profile Service Application.  This will render the User Profile Synchronization service into the stopped state. You can check that in the next step.
  2. Go to Central Administration / System Settings / Manage Services on Server page.
  3. Stop the User Profile service.
If you have multiple servers, stop it on all of them.
  4. Wait 2 minutes.
  5. Perform an iisreset.
  6. Start the User Profile service.
  7. Create a new User Profile service application.
When creating the UPA, enter the details for the MySite host and the managed path.
  8. Open the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell window
You can find it under All programs / Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products
  9. Type in the following commands:
<lists the Service Applications and their GUIDs>
Here note down the ID of the UPA you just created.
    $var = Get-SPServiceApplication –Id <GUID of User Profile Service Application>
    $var.NetBiosDomainNamesEnabled = “True”
  10. Start the User Profile Synchronization service.
  11. Create a Profile Synchronization Connection.
  12. Import the users.
